Aman Thind Aman graduated from UCLA in 1995 and received a JD from UC Berkeley's Boalt Hall in 1998. After graduating from law school, she practiced estate planning and tax law in San Francisco and then spent a number of years providing legal services and advocacy for the poor. After working as a staff attorney with Public Counsel Law Center's Child Care Law Project in Los Angeles for three years, Aman worked as a staff attorney at Legal Services for Children in San Francisco, where she represented children and youth in the areas of probate, immigration, dependency, and education law. While at Legal Services for Children, Aman worked on the Detained Immigrant Children's Project, representing unaccompanied minors detained by the INS. Aman founded the Immigration Center for Women and Children in Los Angeles in 2003. She has been a member of the Southern California South Asian Bar Association and was on the Pro Bono Committee of the National South Asian Bar Association. In 2007, Aman received the Public Interest Award from the South Asian Bar Association's Public Interest Foundation.
